Causes Of Cystic Acne In Adults

Cystic acne is a variation of acne where the occurrence is quire severe that the acne forms into cysts or nodules. The causes of cystic acne start out the same with acne but the difference becomes apparent with the occurrence of the cysts. These are not actually real cysts that people need to panic about and connect with other life threatening conditions, in fact these are just called cysts but do not have any relevance on other conditions. This form of acne usually occurs in the face, back and chest. The so called cysts can be uncomfortable or even downright painful.

What Causes It

The causes of cystic acne are usually combinations of excessive sebum, accumulated dead skin cells and sweat that have been clogged up. These causes of cystic acne do not necessarily have to be all present, just one can do as well as the presence of the bacteria that ultimately causes acne. These causes of cystic acne are all present in a any person so susceptibility to this should be high in everybody but in spite of this, cystic acne is quite a rare occurrence.

While all the causes of cystic acne may be present in almost everybody, one’s immune system may actually play a huge role in preventing the development of this form of acne in spite of the presence of the causes of cystic acne in many people. Even the infection in ordinary acne and its severity may be dependent on how well a person’s immune system is. The causes of cystic acne are few enough that they can be noticed immediately and monitored to keep this form of acne in check.

Treatment

One risk that commonly occurs with moderate to severe cystic acne is rampant scarring. The scarring that occurs with cystic acne can be severe enough to physical mar a person which is why the immediate treatment of this form of acne is important. Scars that result from cystic acne may be temporary and can last only up to six to seven months at the most. They can resemble small lumps which call to mind real cysts. Since the causes of cystic acne stems from the causes of acne, its solution lies in similar planes. The application of ointments and creams containing isotretinoin may be one of the more effective ways to handle and control cystic acne. For mild to moderate cases of cystic acne, creams and ointments with antimicrobial or antibiotic elements come in handy.
